The Parks & Natural Resources Division seeks to connect people to the outdoors by providing an accessible network of parks, trails, and natural areas. The Division is responsible for the following:
- Mowing and trimming all parks and rights of way
- Maintenance on more than 10 miles of asphalt trails and 6 miles of primitive trail
- Maintaining shelters, ballfields, playgrounds, spraygrounds, restrooms, and other park amenities
- Planting and maintaining landscaping in medians, bumpouts, roundabouts, and parks
- Coordinating a community forestry program, including planting, care, and removal of park trees and street trees
- Overseeing management of New Hope, Fairview, and Mt. Memorial Cemeteries
- Working with Planning Division to approve parkland dedications and landscaping plans for new developments, as well as update the Parks and Open Space Master Plan (PDF)
- Expand and manage conservation areas for the many ecosystem services that they provide for individuals, the community, and wildlife
- Seek opportunities for visitors to experience nature through interpretive trails and outdoor education programs
