The Liberty Meals on Wheels program relies on your donation so we can keep seniors safe and living independently. Help make a difference today!

Liberty Meals on Wheels focuses on caring for individuals whose diminished mobility makes it hard to shop for food, prepare meals or socialize with others. People who are mobile enough to join others for meals in a group setting are encourage to do so. Liberty Silver Center serves a daily lunch and has many activities to keep seniors moving and socially involved. Seniors or disabled persons who are less mobile may qualify for Meals on Wheels home delivery.

Liberty Meals on Wheels Loves Pets Too program

Having a pet can help keep seniors happy and healthy, providing cherished companionship for some of our Meals on Wheels recipients. The Meals on Wheels Loves Pets Too program provides supplemental pet food and cat litter deliveries for our recipients with pets, thanks to a partnership with the Liberty Animal Shelter. We make sure no senior goes hungry AND that they can provide a tasty meal to their pets too. 

This program would not be possible without help from the Liberty Animal Shelter! All Shelter animals are fed Hill's Science Diet dry food and a variety of supplemental wet food. Any pet food donations that the Shelter doesn't use in house are passed on to the Meals on Wheels Loves Pets Too program, and any extra beyond that are donated to local pet food banks.

Volunteer Information

Liberty Meals on Wheels needs regular drivers and substitute drivers to deliver more than 500 meals on a weekly basis. "Regular" drivers are those who can commit to delivering meals once a week for an extended period of time. "Substitute" drivers are called on about once a month to fill in when the regular drivers are unable to deliver on their usual day,

Meals on Wheels also utilizes volunteers in other ways outside of the core meal delivery service. Learn how you can help »

"Vickie started as a substitute driver three years ago (2017) after moving to Liberty. Her mother was a driver for Meals on Wheels when she was a child and remembers her mom always coming home with a smile on her face. Years later, with the passing of her mother, Vickie started volunteering with Meals on Wheels to carry on her mother’s memory and also takes her children with her to help out. She believes she delivers more than just a meal. The meal serves as a way to develop a personal connection with the recipient as well as a way to check in on them to make sure they’re doing ok.
