Swap your invasive callery pears for native trees! The Liberty Tree Board has partnered with the Missouri Invasive Plant Council as a part of the 2026 Pear Buyback Program.
Callery pear trees (Pyrus calleryana) include 26 cultivars (including Cleveland and Bradford pear) that present significant ecological concerns in Missouri. They are giving away up to 100 replacement trees to the Liberty community.
Here's how to apply:
- Identify an invasive pear tree in your yard to remove
- Fill out the interest form
- If selected, provide proof of tree removal and pick up your new tree
- Help reduce invasive species and grow a healthier community canopy
- Interest form will be open March 16 - April 16. The tree pick up date will be April 21 from 3-6 p.m.
Space is limited—apply early and help make Liberty greener, one tree at a time!
