Dahlberg and Fulk will sing a medley of tunes from the popular musical “The Sound of Music.” Fulk also will serve as host and narrator for all of the band’s free summer concerts. The concert is slated for Tuesday, June 8 at 7:30 p.m. at the James S. Rooney Justice Center, 11 South Water St., Liberty, Mo. This concert of band favorites includes Gustav Holst’s “Second Suite in F” and Percy Grainger’s popular setting of the Irish tune “Danny Boy.” “Big Band Bash”, another of the band’s “favorite things” will liven things up with a medley of big band tunes. The Spanish march “Amparito Roca” will open the concert. The Liberty Summer Band is conducted by Dr. Phil Posey and Shane Fuller.
The Liberty Summer Band is sponsored by the Liberty Parks and Recreation Department and William Jewell College. Concerts will also be held on June 15 and 22, both also start at 7:30 p.m. in front of the Rooney Justice Center. Concertgoers should bring their own lawn chairs or blankets. In case of rain the concert will be held at the Liberty Performing Arts Theatre in the Community Center, 1600 S. Withers Road. The group will give their final performance at the Liberty4thFest on July 4 at William Jewell College.
