The City of Liberty, together with Historic Liberty, Inc., will host a walking tour of Historic Downtown Liberty on Saturday, July 10. The tour begins at 10 a.m. at the fountain next to City Hall, and will last about an hour. Plan to arrive downtown early, or stay afterwards, to enjoy the Historic Downtown Liberty Farmers' Market.
These walking tours, which have become a favorite among history and architecture buffs across the metropolitan area, take place on the first Saturday of the month from May to October. They are led by a variety of volunteers, including residents and local historians, and feature a different tour each month. The August 7 tour will feature three downtown churches, and will meet at the Presbyterian Church, at the corner of North Main and Mississippi Streets.
All tours are free and open to the public. Tours are on foot; so, participants are reminded to wear comfortable walking shoes. All tours begin at 10 a.m. and generally last an hour. For more information call 439-4537.
