[ARCHIVED] Glass recycling is coming back to Liberty!

Beginning November 5, Liberty residents will be able to once again recycle glass at the City’s drop-off recycling location (400 Suddarth) thanks to a new, free service offered by Ripple Glass.

Things to know…
o This service is free to residents and to the City
o No need to sort your glass by color! All brown, green, blue, and clear food and beverage containers can be mixed together in the same collection bin. (Sorry, no plate glass, mirrors, Pyrex, Corning ware, ceramics or dishes.)
o Don’t worry about removing labels
o Rinsing is nice, but not required
o Ripple Glass’s fully localized system is one of the most environmentally advanced in the country. After residents drop off their empty glass containers in the purple Ripple Glass bins, the glass will then be delivered to a local processing plant that utilizes state-of-the-art technology that is ecologically sensitive. The glass will be crushed, cleaned and sold to Owens Corning Fiberglass for processing in their Kansas City plant. At this point, it will be made into building insulation used to lessen the energy burden of heating or cooling homes. Much of the insulation produced locally will be used in regional building efforts.
