Liberty Public Works is studying the possibility of replacing the at-grade railroad crossing on Birmingham Road, located just south of Highway 291 and north of South Liberty Parkway, with a bridge over the existing tracks.
The project area is surrounded by residential communities, commercial areas, and key commuter routes. Eliminating the at-grade crossing would enhance traffic flow and mobility across Liberty, particularly for residents west of the tracks who rely on limited access points to reach schools, jobs and emergency services.
Join us for a public open house on Thursday, December 4 from 5-7 p.m. at the Liberty Community Center to share your ideas and insights!
Community input will be critical in shaping design decisions and ensuring the project reflects community priorities throughout the planning process.
The planning work the City is currently undertaking will lay the groundwork for the City to apply for various federal funding sources and other grants for design and construction.
