[ARCHIVED] 2020-2021 Street restoration program underway

Metro Asphalt, the city's contractor for our annual street restoration program, has completed all required curb work and milling and will soon begin overlay on Kansas Street, from Clayview to Fairview.

Work is also underway on Kent Street, from Hwy 291 to Brown and on Sutton Place from Kent to Brown. Crews have already milled the roadway and will be working on concrete base patching before applying new concrete pavement. On Nashua Road from Wildbriar to Clayview, milling is complete and crews are preparing to apply the pavement overlay.

Exercising great caution and fiscal responsibility in light of uncertain revenues in 2020, the Public Works Department and Liberty City Council decided to put last year's street restoration program on hold. With funds carried over from 2020 added to the 2021 program budget, the Public Works Department has been able to contract for a larger annual program, totaling $1.6 million. Despite construction prices increasing in the metro area by 3.3%, Metro Asphalt held their 2020 pricing for 2021. This allowed the Public Works Department to add additional streets to the original contract at the same pricing.

Here's the complete list of roadways that are included in this the 2020-21 program:
