We received word on Tuesday, Sept. 29 that a Fire Department employee tested positive for COVID-19. The city has conducted internal contact tracing and have identified individuals that had direct, prolonged contact with the employee. These employees will be tested and quarantined per public health guidelines. As with all positive cases, the Clay County Public Health Center will conduct external contact tracing related to this case.
The Liberty Fire Stations benefit, as do all City facilities, from the purchase of several decontamination machines that are deployed regularly and in response to known positive cases to efficiently sanitize affected vehicles, rooms and/or buildings. Due to the fact that our crews transport potential COVID-19 patients on a regular basis, fire stations undergo regular decontamination. Ambulances are sanitized multiple times each day.
