[ARCHIVED] LPD and LFD Host Annual Fundraisers to Support Holiday Programs

Liberty Police Department - Shop with a Cop

The Liberty Police Department is hosting its annual raffle to raise funds for the Shop with a Cop program with an Xbox One S and a diamond bracelet are up for grabs. Raffle tickets are 1 for $5 or 5 for $20. To purchase raffle tickets, stop by the Liberty PD booth at Fall Festival or contact the Liberty Police Department Records Unit at Liberty City Hall (101 E Kansas St) or by phone 816-439-4719, Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Raffles end Oct. 1 and the drawing will be held at 2 p.m.

Through the Shop with a Cop program, children in need shop for and wrap presents for their family members, and have a fun day with LPD officers. Later this year, an additional raffle and two bake sales will take place to expand the department's fundraising efforts and allow the program to accept more kids. LPD's Shop with a Cop team works with School Resource Officers, Liberty Public Schools, local churches and the Division of Family Services to identify families who could benefit from the Shop with a Cop program. Based on funds raised, students are then invited to participate.

Liberty Fire Department - Liberty Community Christmas Tree

The Liberty Fire Department is hosting its annual raffle to raise funds to adopt families from the Liberty Community Christmas Tree Program with a Traeger smoker, two baskets of bbq goodies and a hand made quilt up for grabs. Raffle tickets are 1 for $5 or 5 for $20. To purchase tickets, stop by the Liberty Fire booth at Fall Festival or contact the Fire Department at 816-439-4467. The raffle ends on Sept. 29 and the winning tickets will be drawn on Sept. 30.

This is Liberty Fire's third annual fundraiser to support the Liberty Community Christmas Tree program. The department uses funds raised to adopt LCCT families. Through the LCCT program, recipient families receive boxes of canned goods, perishable food items and gifts for each child in the family. Any family or senior living in the Liberty School District that needs assistance during the holiday season can apply to receive assistance through the Liberty Community Christmas Tree program. LCCT recipient applications open on Oct. 8. More information is available online »
