[ARCHIVED] Sanitary Sewer Smoke Testing

The Liberty Utilities Department and subcontractor, TREKK Design Group, LLC will be conducting manhole inspections and smoke testing of the City's sanitary sewer starting the week of June 25 and lasting over the next couple of weeks. These tests identify defects in the sanitary sewer lines by putting smoke through the lines to identify leak points where the smoke escapes.

Smoke tests will be conducted between 7 a.m. - 6 p.m., Monday - Saturday. Liberty Utilities has mailed a letter to all the homes and businesses in the testing area which includes areas around Glenaire, Withersfield and Whitehall, Liberty Landing Road, Clay Ridge and Liberty Landing Mobile Home Park.

About 48 hours prior to smoke testing, crews will also distribute door hangers to residences in the test area explaining the tests and providing contact information. The smoke is non-toxic, non-staining, has no odor, is white or gray in color, is not harmful to pets and DOES NOT create any fire hazard. The crews of 3-4 people will wear ID badges.
