William Jewell College will host the Northland's 29th annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Day celebration with a program beginning at 1 p.m. January 21 in John Gano Memorial Chapel on the college campus in Liberty, Mo.
The speaker will be Kansas City radio talk show host, author and retired educator Carl Boyd, founder of "The Generation Rap," a talk show for teens, on KPRS-FM (103). In addition, campus and community leaders will be honored with the Martin Luther King, Jr. community service award.
The program will also include a performance by the William Jewell College Concert Choir and The Kansas City Heritage Dance Group. William Jewell students Chriska Francois and Edward Scott will present a tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. A public reception will be held immediately following the program in the White Atrium of Yates-Gill College Union.
The program is free and the public is invited to attend; tickets or reservations are not required.
