All Liberty public schools will be hosting a food drive again this year to help disadvantaged families within the Liberty community. Students are invited to bring non-perishable items and canned goods to their school.
The Liberty Community Christmas tree anticipates helping more than 275 families with more than 700 children. Additionally, food will be provided to more than 135 senior citizens and households with out children in our community. Last year, the food drive collected 4½ tons of food for the LCCT. This year, the LCCT commission set a goal to have 5 tons of food and non-perishable items donated for distribution on December 8.
Collection boxes will also be located at Liberty City Hall, 101 E. Kansas, the Liberty Community Center, 1600 S. Withers Rd., and the Cork & Brew, 8 East Franklin St. Other local businesses are invited to participate in food drive. Collection boxes can be provided by calling 816.439.4424. Food must be delivered to Heritage Hall on Monday, December 3.
