[ARCHIVED] Liberty Police seek help identifying abduction suspect

The Liberty Police Department received a report that on April 17, 2012 at about 5:00 a.m., a 40 year-old Liberty woman was abducted and forced to drive to a remote area in Lafayette County where she was assaulted.

The victim reported she was alone in her car and was stopped at an intersection near M-291 Highway and Main Street in Liberty. While she was stopped an unknown man jumped into the back seat of her car and ordered her to drive. The man threatened to cut her if she did not do as he said. She was forced to drive to a remote location in Lafayette County where she was sexually assaulted. She was able to escape when the suspect got out of her car to smoke a cigarette.

The suspect was described as a white male, in his 30s, medium build, with collar-length curly blonde or reddish hair, wearing a green t-shirt. The victim said the suspect smelled strongly of cigarette smoke.

The Police Department is seeking the public’s help in identifying the suspect, as depicted in a police artist’s sketch. Anyone with information is asked to call the Liberty Police Department at 816.439.4701, the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department at 660.259.3622 or the Tips Hotline at 816.474.8477.
