[ARCHIVED] Liberty Meals on Wheels is seeking volunteer drivers

Liberty Meals on Wheels is seeking volunteer drivers to help deliver a noon meal to older adults in the city limits of Liberty. Each day the Meals on Wheels program delivers more than 60 meals to local seniors who are not able to leave their home.

Openings are available on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays with the greatest need on Mondays. Each route has no more than six stops. We are looking for volunteers to deliver one day a week. The meals are picked up at the Clay County Election Board office parking lot. Volunteers are assigned a route that takes approximately 30-45 minutes to deliver.

“Volunteers are crucial to the program” says Jan Bryant, Meals on Wheels Board member. “The volunteers not only deliver a warm nutritious meal, but also deliver a friendly face and a daily wellness check to our recipients. The meals enable the elderly to maintain their independence and remain in their homes.

If you or your organization is interested in delivering meals, please contact the Meals on Wheels office at 439-4398.
