[ARCHIVED] City's new website features online tool, "Liberty Marketplace," to promote local businesses

The City of Liberty has rolled out a new initiative through the City’s website called Liberty Marketplace to promote local business to its citizens and visitors.

More than just an on-line listing of Liberty businesses, Liberty Marketplace will give businesses an opportunity to link to already existing websites or to create a new mini-website created by the business owner. In these mini-websites, businesses can display information such as new merchandise or services, current coupon offerings, available job openings and other topical news.
Liberty Marketplace’s greatest benefit is that it will give citizens and out of town visitors the ability to go to one central location through the City’s website to search for local businesses. Visitors will be able to find a business’ location and, depending on the extent a business chooses to utilize the service, may also be able to join business-specific mailing lists, follow daily or weekly specials and more. The site can integrate with any Twitter, MySpace, Linked-In or Facebook account businesses may already have.

City staff has been promoting Liberty Marketplace to various organizations and inviting business owners to start utilizing the service. This service is provided by the City through a contract with WebQA, but is free to local businesses that currently have a business license within the City. More than 600 licensed businesses already have a basic listing in Liberty Marketplace. Business owners wanting more information on the service should contact Karan Johnson, Economic Development manager for the City of Liberty, at 816.439.4532.
