It's not very often that citizens get money back from local governments, but Liberty residents will get just that in 2011.
At its meeting on February 14, the Liberty City Council approved a one-time $17.50 credit to Liberty sanitation customers that will be credited to utility bills in March and April. With a surplus in the City's sanitation fund from 2010, the Budget Committee recommended and the City Council approve the one-time credit. Sanitation customers will see $0 as the amount due in March for sanitation charges, a savings of $12.34. In April, sanitation charges will be $7.18, a savings of $5.16.
This credit will off-set a 1.9 percent increase in the average customer's City's utility bill.
