Learn how to prune your own trees just in time for fall clean up and opening of the tree limb disposal yard (Oct. 25-30)
When: October 23
Part 1 (inside) - 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
Part 2 (outside) - 1:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.
Where: Liberty Community Center, 1600 S. Withers
In the first part of the class, Missouri Department of Conservation urban foresters will cover how to make proper pruning cuts, what to prune, when to prune and the long-term tree health benefits of good pruning while trees are young. The outside portion of the class will provide hands on practice of what was taught in the morning. All of the pruning work will be from the ground using hand tools. Tools will be provided for this training.
It will also help people understand what to look for if hiring an arborist.
TreeLiberty hopes you will then put your new tree pruning skills to the test!
There are several hundred trees on public property around Liberty that need to be pruned this winter and TreeLiberty is looking for volunteers to help. Anyone interested in helping with this effort needs to attend at least the first part of the training on Oct. 23. The outside portion can be made up later if necessary.
