Join the Liberty Police Department this summer for the Junior Police Academy (JPA)! Applications are now open for the 2024 session and the deadline to apply is Friday, May 17. The JPA will run July 22 - 26, 7 a.m. - 3 p.m.
This program is designed to motivate young people to be outstanding citizens and to empower them to act as a positive influence in our community. The Academy also helps to bridge the gaps between law enforcement and youth while also exposing the Junior Cadets to future careers in their community.
The Academy blends classroom learning with hands on activities to expose Junior Cadets to a variety of topics including:
- Fitness
- Patrol Tactics
- Criminal Investigations
- Traffic Safety
- Self-Defense
- SWAT Techniques
There are a limited number of openings and the application process is competitive. The application period opens near the end of each school year. Applications are made available at the front office of any of the following schools: Liberty Middle School, Discovery Middle School, Heritage Middle School and South Valley Middle School or online. To be considered, all forms from the application must be completed, including two recommendations, signed releases and waivers and a short essay.
