The colorful, repurposed newspaper distribution box that now serves as one of Liberty's many little libraries has been recognized as a "Library of Distinction" by the Little Free Library organization.
This Little Free Library, which was created by Liberty's Community Development Manager Jonna Wensel, was installed in July 2014. In an email to Wensel, the Little Free Library organization stated "Its unique design and the creativity and enthusiasm you have put into it make it an inspiring example for other Little Free Library Stewards."
The Woodneath Branch of the Mid-Continent Library generously provided a selection of adult and children's books to get the Library started. Donations have kept it going ever since. The library holds reading material for adults and children and is accessible during normal business hours.
