[ARCHIVED] It's time for the 2020 Census!

The census happens every 10 years. It counts every person living in the United States and its territories.

Why is the Census so important?

The data collected by the 2020 census is critical for states, counties, and communities.

Census data:

  • determines the number of seats each state has in the U.S. House of Representatives, as well as districts for state government.
  • guides the allocation of approximately $675 billion in federal funding to local communities every year.
  • helps communities plan roads, schools, hospitals, senior centers, and emergency services.
  • helps business with decisions related to locating factories, headquarters, stores, recruiting employees, and conducting market research.

Experts estimate that if the 2020 Census that provided similar results to the 2010 Census would result in the loss of $5,243,883 to Clay County! (source: http://census2020kc.org/why-the-census-is-important/ )

You can complete the questionnaire online, by phone, or by mail. Learn how at https://2020census.gov/en/ways-to-respond.html
