The Liberty Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) will offer a free class to people 16 and older who want to learn how to take care of themselves and their families during a disaster. Liberty CERT is a group of organized volunteers, sponsored by the Liberty Fire Department, to help Liberty respond to and recover from an emergency.
Graduates of the CERT class, who want to take their preparedness a step further and assist their community in case of an emergency, may join Liberty CERT after passing a background check.
Participating in Liberty CERT is a great way to be personally prepared for and to help your community in the event of a disaster or an emergency incident. Liberty CERT is always looking for new members who want to help the community in an organized manner.
During the free course and exercise you'll learn about:
Disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact our area.
Basic disaster response skills including fire safety.
Search and rescue techniques.
How to organize a team.
Disaster medical operations.
Using what you learn in the classroom and during exercises, CERT members can assist others in their neighborhood or workplace following an event when professional responders are not immediately available to help.
Class size is limited and pre-registration is required. Choose from two sessions in the coming weeks.
