The Patrol Division of the Liberty Police Department is in operation 24-hours a day, every day of the year.
The majority of the City's 44 commissioned police officers are divided among four squads in the Patrol Division, including a corporal and a sergeant who supervise each shift. These officers enforce City, State and Federal laws and respond to a variety of emergency and non-emergency dispatched calls for service.
Officers cover four districts totaling 30 square miles and populated by more than 30,000 residents. Their duties include:
- Making arrests.
- Responding to crimes in progress.
- Taking crime reports.
When they are not responding to calls for service, officers are proactive in crime prevention by patrolling neighborhoods and assisting citizens. Patrol officers also assist other departments within the City when requested.
