LPR COVID-19 [Update 4/29]

With the release of Clay County Public Health Center recovery plan, the City of Liberty and Liberty Parks & Rec have been developing plans to begin slowly and responsibly reopening our City facilities, amenities and programs. 

Beginning Monday, May 4, the following will be OPEN:

  • City Hall will be open to the public from 10 a.m-3 p.m.
  • City parks and trails will remain open
  • Stocksdale Park, including the dog park, disc golf course and trails
  • Pickleball court on Withers Road
  • Tennis courts and skate park at Bennett Park

 IF PATRONS DO NOT FOLLOW SOCIAL DISTANCING GUIDELINES, THESE AMENITIES WILL BE CLOSED AGAIN


With anticipated Clay County Public Health Center occupancy restrictions and concerns with high touch facilities and amenities the following facilities / amenities will remain CLOSED for the time being:

  • Liberty Community Center (tentatively scheduled to open June 1) 
  • Liberty Senior Center 
  • Liberty Performing Arts Theatre
  • City spraygrounds, playgrounds and restrooms
  • Basketball and sand volleyball courts in Liberty parks
  • Capital Federal® Sports Complex - closed for both tournaments and league play


Previous Closures/Cancellations

  • Playgrounds and Restrooms Closed (3/26 until further notice)
    • Please follow the social distancing and personal hygiene guidelines outlined by the Centers for Disease Control when using the parks. We apologize for the inconvenience but care about the health and wellness of our community. Learn more about parks and trails use.
  • Liberty Community Center (LCC)
    • Closed through May 31
    • including all facilities, programs and activities
  • Liberty Silver Center
    • Programs and lunches are suspended until further notice
      • per recommendation from Mid-America Regional Council (MARC)
  • Liberty Access Bus
    • Trips are suspended through May 15
  • Liberty Performing Arts Theatre
    • Events cancelled until further notice
  • Youth Sports
    • Youth Soccer- Cancelled
    • Youth Volleyball- Cancelled
    • Youth Tennis Lessons- April, May and June Cancelled
    • Liberty Storm Swim Team- Cancelled
    • Baseball, Softball and T-Ball- Cancelled
      • Credit on file or full refund is available
      • LPR staff are developing additional recreational activities for the summer
  • Tippi Toes Dance
    • Suspended until LCC opens
  • FastKick Martial Arts
    • Session III is cancelled (3/23-4/17)
    • Session IV is TBA
  • ActivStars Karate
    • Suspended until LCC opens
  • Adult Sports
    • Volleyball, Basketball and Softball- Cancelled (full amount will be refunded)
    • summer adult softball leagues have been cancelled. LPR is continuing to work through a plan that may allow for a late June start for a session. Stay tuned!
  • Dog Obedience
    • Postponed until LCC opens
  • Capitol Federal® Sports Complex of Liberty
    • Tournaments cancelled through May 31
  • Park shelter rentals
    • Cancelled through May 31
  • Popcorn in the park - rescheduled for August 28
