About the City's Rental Code
The City adopted and enforces the Residential Rental Occupancy Code (RROC) to ensure that residential rental properties meet certain minimum standards in order to protect and promote public health, safety and general welfare. This code identifies the responsibilities of owners and occupants regarding rental properties. It also establishes basic standards that these properties should meet as well as providing a procedure for inspections and appeals.
Currently, one part-time staff person is responsible for administering the program and conducting inspections of residential rental units. While inspections are scheduled according to a systematic inspection program, tenants may request inspections if code deficiencies are not addressed by landlords.
If you have questions regarding this program or would like to schedule an inspection, please contact the Building Division at 816.439.4541.
