Adoption Rates
A significant aspect of the Animal Shelter’s operation is the importance of the spay/neuter program, as it relates to our adoptable animals. All animals adopted from the shelter are spayed or neutered before going home to their owners.
Things to know before you adopt
Through close ties with Liberty veterinarians, costs for approved adoption applications are as follows:
Spayed/Neutered Animals
- Dog
- $80 plus the cost of a heartworm test (pets 7 months and older) and Rabies vaccination (pets 4 months and older).
- Cat
- $55 adoption fee for cats at the Liberty Animal Shelter plus the cost of the FIV/ Feline Leukemia test and Rabies vaccination (pets 4 months and older).
In accordance with the Missouri Animal Care Facilities Act, all dogs and cats are spayed or neutered and vaccinated against rabies prior to being adopted into a new home. The Liberty Animal Shelter will not facilitate the adoption of animals to be used for breeding, or any other purpose which requires that animal to be unsterilized.
City Dog Licenses

- $10 unsterilized dogs
