Street Lighting

The City of Liberty street lighting system is installed and maintained by KCP&L.  The City of Liberty pays a monthly lease fee for each street light.  Annually, total lease fees for street lights equates to approximately $700,000.

Request a New Street Light

To request a new street light in your neighborhood, please complete the Street Light Petition Form (PDF) and submit it to the office of the City Engineer located on the 3rd floor of City Hall at 101 East Kansas.

Petition

The City will consider street lighting at locations where a petition is received and verified from 100% of the residents along the street or in the adjacent area to the proposed street light. Due to the high cost of street lights, new street lights petitions are carefully reviewed before being approved. Once the street light petition form is received and verified, the requested lights will be submitted to KCP&L for design and installation.
