October 7, 2017, 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM @ Tour meets at 10 a.m. at the entrance to the cemetery. Enter William Jewell College campus from Miller Avenue and continue up the hill.
Mt. Memorial Cemetery was the first public burying ground for the Town of Liberty. When platted in 1836 it was outside the City Limits The road on the south side (Mississippi St) was one of the roads out of town. In this cemetery are buried many of the founding fathers of Liberty. One of the burials is a circus performer who “Loved to much, but not wisely.”
This walking tour is free and open to the public, and will be led by a local historian. They are open to the public and all tours begin at 10 am. Be sure to wear comfortable walking shoes!
